Haijushki und bajushki: Einige Besonderheiten der russischen synchronen Online-Kommunikation

Florence Maurice

In this article some aspects of Russian online communication (chat) are introduced. First, general features of chat communication are explained and illustrated by Russian examples (identity, disinhibition, play, written orality). Then two specific phenomena are discussed: the realisation of two speech acts (greetings and good-byes) and the rules of chat communication. In some respects, the research yields different results depending on the chat club the data is taken from. This proves that the particular chat programs the users have employed have a considerable impact on their way of communicating online.
